Take most of what makes a Cooke S4 great then add a stop with the resulting thinner depth of field and additional softening characteristics and you have an Elite Hi Speed. They cut with S4s at the 2.8 / 4 spilt but then offer something fresh wide open - a different expressive look characterized by lovely golden glow. Like Zeiss Super Speeds, 2 looks in 1 set. Wide open they've got that pop — and a lot of chromatic aberration — but stop down to that 2.8 / 4 split and the CA and everything else goes away. And check out that 9.6mm! And the 200! And the 300!
